Kicheche Camp Gives Back To The Community

For many years now, the Kicheche Community Trust has been giving back to its community in 4 areas: Education, Health, Environment and Empowerment. The Trust supports projects in and around the communities where The Long Run Member Kicheche Mara Camp operates.

To promote enterprise, Kicheche Trust has been empowering talented young women through traditional beading work.  Recently, The Trust donated work benches to the women to help them produce  and sell their magnificent beaded items. The colourful beautiful hand-crafted beaded work including necklaces, bracelets, belts, dog collars, bags, wallets, and unique home goods are sold through Maa Beawork. The women receive fair pay for each piece created. The items can be ordered through email at this contact: [email protected]

The Trust is also organising its 5th Medical camp to benefit the Aitong Community, Masai Mara. The clinics will be held from 1st to 3rd November 2016 and are open and free for all. Doctors who will be providing services include dentists, gynaecologists and obstetrician, paediatrician and general physician.

The clinics make specialised medical treatment possible for the community and enhance further medical training for  resident doctors. They are supported by, among other donors, the  Land & Life Foundation

Established in 2004, the Kicheche Community Trust has become a reliable source of funding for projects. Its mission is to encourage the preservation of the environment whilst improving the welfare of the community through improved health and education facilities. The Trust builds on four corner posts of Community Welfare: Education, Health and Family Care, Community Empowerment and Environmental Conservation.

Apart from carrying out annual medical clinics, the Trust has helped build a proper incinerator for all hospital waste at the Aitong CMF clinic, as well as a water pump, a fully equipped delivery ward, regular supplies of “day-to-day” medicine and extra toilets at the same facility. Learn more
