Asilia operates 17 intimate camps and lodges across iconic wilderness areas in Kenya and Tanzania, with its newest property set to open in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in 2026. Through DMC operations in Rwanda and Uganda, the company extends its reach to protect additional critical ecosystems. Every safari with Asilia directly contributes to conservation initiatives that safeguard wildlife corridors, combat poaching, and restore habitats.
Employing more than 1,000 people, many from neighbouring communities. Asilia invests in education, inclusivity, and income-generating projects that strengthen local livelihoods. Guests are invited to engage meaningfully with authentic African cultures while enjoying exceptional guiding and personalised service in remote wilderness settings. As a certified B Corp, Asilia demonstrates that tourism can be a genuine force for good when people and nature thrive together.
Asilia Africa 4C impact
CONSERVATION
Asilia transforms fragile natural habitats into lasting conservation economies, embedding wildlife and habitat protection into its core business model. Through the Nawiri Foundation, the company channels each per-guest-night conservation fee into wildlife protection initiatives implemented by local conservation NGOs.
Asilia operates camps designed for minimal environmental impact, incorporating renewable energy, efficient water conservation, waste management systems, and low-impact infrastructure to ensure harmony with surrounding ecosystems.
COMMUNITY
Asilia employs a predominantly local workforce, often from rural areas, and provides extensive training and professional development opportunities that empower individuals and build long-term careers in tourism.
The company engages with neighbouring communities through education programmes: including children’s conservation education and prioritises sourcing products and services from local producers wherever possible.
CULTURE
Asilia actively promotes gender equality across its operations by providing equal opportunities for all staff regardless of gender. It supports initiatives that challenge traditional barriers and partners with organisations such as the Maa Trust to deliver education, skills training, and economic opportunities that advance gender equity in the communities where it operates.
The company supports local cultural traditions such as beadwork, funds women’s empowerment programmes in Maasai communities through grants to women’s groups, and fosters respectful cultural exchange through village visits and meaningful guest interactions. Dunia Camp, one of Asilia’s properties, is operated entirely by women, an inspiring symbol of empowerment and progress in redefining gender roles.
COMMERCE
Asilia’s business model connects luxury safari tourism directly to conservation and community wellbeing. By operating high-end camps in sensitive ecosystems, employing local staff, sourcing locally, and reinvesting revenue through conservation fees, concession payments, and NGO partnerships, the company generates measurable positive impact that protects wilderness and uplifts surrounding communities.
Asilia’s commitment to responsible commerce ensures that every aspect of its operation from employment and procurement to conservation finance supports a sustainable cycle where people, nature, and business thrive together.
